OUR PRIMARY GOAL

At The Arrow Center for Education Mountain Road, students receive personalized 1:1 support in a safe, caring environment. We blend evidence-based behavior strategies, daily living skills, and social-emotional learning to help students grow. With a focus on IEP goals and strong family collaboration, we empower every student to build confidence, independence, and lifelong success.

Our school serves students with a wide range of learning needs, including Autism (14), Intellectual Disability (01), and Multiple Disabilities (10). We also welcome students who have faced challenges in traditional public school settings. With individualized support and a nurturing environment, we help every student build confidence, develop essential skills, and thrive academically and socially.

THE STUDENTS WE SERVE

We offer small class sizes of just 6–9 students, with individualized instruction guided by each student’s IEP. Using ABA principles, our classrooms apply errorless teaching and systematic methods to build core skills. Instruction is strengthened through frequent reinforcement, a focus on functional life skills, and opportunities for peer modeling that support social growth. Highly qualified staff provide consistent guidance and encouragement, ensuring every student receives the support they need.

As students progress, the program gradually promotes greater independence, both in academics and in daily life, equipping them with the tools to thrive in and beyond the classroom.

OUR SCHOOLS

CURRICULUM

We implement the Harford County Public School (HCPS) curriculum. If a class is offered for a student who is not a HCPS student, and HCPS does not have a curriculum available, another Local School System’s curriculum may be used.

For our students working towards a diploma, the curriculum will be accommodated as designated in the IEP. For students working to a certificate of completion, more significant modifications to the curriculum may be made, so the students is being taught to the their appropriate instructional level.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your inclement weather policy?
The Arrow Center for Education Mountain Road follows Harford County Public Schools’ inclement weather decisions and will make up any missed days.
What does it mean if my child graduates from Arrow Center for Education Schools – Mountain Road?
Because your student completed the graduation requirements of their Local School System, which are the same requirements as their home school, your child’s diploma or certificate of completion will say the name of their home school—C. Milton Wright, Edgewood High, etc. It is then up to your child if they want to share where they achieved those diploma requirements and mention Arrow.
How do you help students transition back to their home school?
It varies on the needs of the student, but we work closely with the LSS, mostly Harford County Public Schools, to create a plan that works for that student. Sometimes, that involves a student attending their home school for half of the day and to the Mountain Road school for half of the day, before fully going back. But in all cases, we work to ensure that the supports and skills needed in the home school environment are closely mirrored and practiced at Arrow Riverside, to increase the success.
How can my child attend the Mountain Road school?
Students come to us through the IEP central team process. A Local School System (LSS) will refer the student to us. We will contact the family and set up a tour for both the family and student. Interested parents are always welcome to tour the school even if they have not been referred. It is our courtesy to the LSS to notify them if an interested parent tours before a central IEP.
