We are grateful for your willingness to step in and care for a child within your family or support network. A kinship home is a home where a child is placed with a relative or someone, they have a significant, established relationship with. Your commitment plays a critical role in helping children maintain connections, stability, and a sense of belonging during a difficult time.

Proper training is an important part of your journey. For your success as a kinship foster parent, and to ensure the safety and well-being of the children we serve, we require you to attend all virtual trainings using a desktop or laptop computer. You must have your webcam active and be visible to our trainers at all times. Click here to test your system before your training.

If you are not able to meet these requirements, please reach out to your Arrow Family Home Developer or Recruiter.

Foundations for Kinship Foster Care provides an overview of the unique role of kinship caregivers and what it means to care for a child within your family or support network. This training explores how trauma, grief, and loyalty conflicts impact children in kinship placements, and how caregivers can support connection, stability, and healing. We will also discuss shifting roles and boundaries with the family of origin, working as part of a team, and practical strategies to navigate the kinship caregiving journey.

This training is designed to build a strong foundation for kinship foster parents and prepare you for the expectations and responsibilities of licensure.
