TREATMENT FOSTER FAMILY CARE

In Texas, thousands of children and teens enter foster care each year but every child is more than a case number, placement count or file in a system. They are individuals with stories, resilience and potential.

Treatment Foster Family Care (TFC) is designed for youth who have experienced significant trauma and need a higher level of emotional and behavioral support than traditional foster care provides. These children are often navigating complex challenges related to abuse, neglect, loss or instability and they deserve care that sees them as more than a statistic.

TFC provides children with a structured, nurturing home environment led by specially trained foster parents who receive ongoing clinical support. Through consistency, compassion and evidence-based care, TFC families help children stabilize, heal and begin to thrive.

Why TFC Matters

According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS)

  • Over 30,000 children are in foster care across Texas each year
  • Thousands of youth need therapeutic-level placements due to emotional or behavioral needs.
  • Teens and sibling groups are among the hardest to place, often waiting longer for stable homes.

Treatment Foster Care ensures these children are not defined by their trauma or behaviors but supported by people trained to help them succeed.

Who Can Become a TFC Parent

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Have a heart for helping children who need extra support
  • Are patient, consistent and open to learning
  • Want to make a real impact in the lives of teens and youth
  • Are looking for a purpose-driven way to earn additional income
  • TFC parents receive $139.58 daily and if they foster a child 14 and older they get an additional of $26.12 per day.

You don’t need to be perfect, you just need to be committed in helping a child in need.
