Designing Environments That Strengthen Our Mission

When UPLIFT Desk partnered with Arrow Child & Family Ministries on their workspace planning initiative, the project centered on a straightforward objective: create an environment that supports the organization’s critical work with children and families.

Founded in Texas in 1992 by a former foster youth, Arrow has grown into a regional nonprofit serving communities across Texas and Maryland. Their programs focus on providing stable placements, family services, and tailored support for children in foster care. As their impact expanded, so did the need for workspaces designed to meet the demands of a team engaged in emotionally intensive work.

UPLIFT Desk provided free design and space-planning support, with key workplace priorities guiding the project:

  • Support for employee well-being and productivity, particularly for staff navigating sensitive casework.
  • Flexible environments adaptable for training, team collaboration, and confidential conversations.
  • Purposeful finish and layout selection to help create spaces that feel welcoming, stable, and professional

To achieve these goals the design team selected warm wood-tones, desks that employees can sit or stand at, and privacy panels so they could transition fluidly from confidential conversations to collaborative sessions. Durability and ergonomic support were also essential in ensuring the workplace remains comfortable and efficient through daily use

Arrow’s commitment to strengthening families is closely connected to supporting the professionals delivering those services. The new workspace reinforces that philosophy by providing staff with the tools, comfort, and functionality needed to sustain long-term mission effectiveness. Whether serving a rapidly growing nonprofit like Arrow or a national enterprise, UPLIFT Desk focuses on designing work environments that elevate both organizational outcomes and the people doing the work. This project reflects that commitment—building a space that enables meaningful impact, every day.
