Arrow Child and Family Ministries’ Brownwood office marked a major milestone in its commitment to family wellness this year, celebrating the first graduate of its newest trauma-informed initiative. After launching the Nurturing Parenting Program in October 2025, Behavioral Health Services staff proudly presented the inaugural certificate of completion to a dedicated caregiver on Friday, Feb. 6.
The Nurturing Parenting Program is a family-centered initiative designed to strengthen households by combining practical skills with a deeper parenting philosophy. Rather than focusing solely on a checklist of tasks, the curriculum centers on the belief that nurturing should be woven into every aspect of family life. Through structured and engaging sessions, participants learn positive discipline techniques, effective communication and strategies for building healthy relationships.
The first graduate of the Brownwood program set a high bar for future participants.
A foster parent and teacher, she utilized her existing professional training and life experiences to foster deep dialogue and discussion surrounding the core constructs of the curriculum.
“Good things we can say about her process was that she was flexible with her time and committed to learning,” a Behavioral Health Services spokesperson said. “She was engaging; she didn’t shy away from sharing personal struggles in addition to parenting struggles, which helped individualize her treatment to best fit her needs.”
Throughout the course, the caregiver applied new skills and suggestions immediately following her sessions. This proactive approach allowed for instant positive results, which she would then reflect on during the subsequent meetings.
“She applied any new Nurturing Parenting skills learned and any advice or suggestions provided after sessions,” a Behavioral Health Services spokesperson said. “This allowed for immediate positive results, which she would reflect on during the session that followed.”
This first graduation serves as a celebratory testament to the power of the program and the dedication of the caregivers who strive to provide the best possible environment for the children in their care.
