Freedom to Dream: The Joneses journey to becoming a family of five

When JaDenise Jones first said yes to fostering she never imagined how much her life could change.

Before joining 4Kids4Families, Jones worked at a high school with a student population serving students with special needs. She also worked as a school bus driver.

According to Jones, this journey is what inspired her to apply to the Client Service Specialist position she holds today.

Her story begins in 2024.

One January afternoon, Jones was finishing a school bus route when she saw a mother sitting outside a laundromat with her two young sons.

She said she felt God place it on her heart to go back and check on the children and their mother, who appeared to be crying. She dropped the bus off and returned.

“The mother asked if I had children, and when I said yes, she asked if I wanted more children,” Jones said. “To my complete shock, she placed her youngest son in my car and walked away.”

Jones said the mother wanted her to take them, so she gave her contact information and promised to feed the boys that evening.

She dropped them back off but couldn’t stop thinking about what happened.

“I called the police to request a welfare check and contacted CPS,” Jones said. “I told CPS that I didn’t know the family, but if the boys needed a safe place to stay, I was willing to take them.”

Two weeks later, the little boys were placed in her home and two years after that, they became her sons.

“Looking back, I truly believe that day at the laundromat was not a coincidence, it was God directing my steps,” Jones said. “After two years of court hearings, home visits, prayers, loving them and trusting God’s plan, I officially adopted my two boys in February of this year.”

According to Jones, February 27 marks the day the judge made it legally official what their hearts had already known, those boys were a part of her family.

This day she became the proud mother of four children.

Jones shared that four could hopefully turn to five as her boys have two other brothers, the oldest is an adult and the other is 13, whom she hopes to adopt too one day.

Jones said her two sons found a forever family and she found two sons who have brought immeasurable joy, love and purpose into her life.

“My own story reminds me every day why this work at 4Kids4Families matters,” Jones said. “I understand firsthand the hope, healing and opportunity that foster care and adoption can bring because I’ve lived it.”

When learning of Jones’ story, she offered this piece of scripture. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
