On June 18, Arrow Child and Family Ministries’ Associate Vice President Sue McLendon was elected to the Harford County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
The Harford County Chamber of Commerce voted on its fiscal year 2027 board slate at its annual dinner and gavel exchange.
McLendon will contribute to the strategic plan of the chamber, supporting Harford County’s local businesses. According to McLendon, her excitement lies in the opportunity to search for new connections and ways to collectively support the community.
When asked about this professional milestone, McLendon reflected, emphasizing that the honor represents more than an individual achievement. Instead, she pointed to the connection between Arrow’s work and the broader Harford County community.
“Harford County is a location that so many students, clients and Arrow team members not only work but live,” McLendon said. “The health of Harford County is directly connected to our work and the success of the families that we serve who live here.”
Ahead of the election, McLendon threw her hat in the ring, submitting her name for consideration for the nomination. The board reviewed nominees and selected a slate to bring to the full membership for the final vote and approval.
McLendon said observing the connections built by Arrow’s Senior VP of Maryland Programs Jennifer McGlothlin-Renault at the Hunt Valley Business Forum inspired her for this leadership role with the chamber board.
McLendon has interacted with the board frequently thanks to events and organizational growth, such as the Mountain Road grand opening and the Arrow Riverside ribbon cutting for new playground equipment.
“Seeing how the chamber cared to make these Arrow events special and how these events brought new connections, made me excited to do more for and with the Harford County Chamber,” McLendon said.
The June 18 event included the installation of the new board, recognition of members and the unveiling of a 50th anniversary legacy plaque.
Arrow is cheering on McLendon in her new role and is thankful for the continued relationship between the organization and chamber.
